Rehberg Comments On Global Strike Command Center Decision & Keeps Fighting for Malmstrom
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Montana’s Congressman, Denny Rehberg, issued the following statement in response to news the United States Air Force has decided against locating a new major command center at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls. The new major command center will oversee nuclear related assets, known as the Global Strike Command.
“Because Malmstrom was such a great fit for this major command, I was disappointed to learn the Air Force had gone a different direction. I’m encouraged that Malmstrom was a strong candidate for the new command center. I firmly believe we’re a strong candidate for additional missions and I’m currently working on making this a reality. I will continue to work alongside Max and Jon on behalf of Malmstrom and the Great Falls community to ensure that it remains a vital part of America’s defense capability.”
Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana was chosen among six candidates to house the new Global Strike Command Center.
Rehberg will continue his efforts to have a Clinical Data Repository (CDR) placed at Malmstrom. The new mission would involve storing and safeguarding electronic health records for more than nine million military personnel and veterans. No decision date has been announced for the CDR mission.
